Office of Labor-Management Enforcement

The Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS) conducts both civil and criminal investigations of alleged violations of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA) and related laws.

These investigations by OLMS District Offices involve issues such as embezzlements of union funds, union officer elections, the filing of required reports by unions and others with OLMS, and the imposition of trusteeships over subordinate unions by a parent body. These investigations may result in legal enforcement actions.

April 20th, 2018On April 20, 2018, in the United States District Court District of Southern Illinois, Wendy Buch, former Financial Secretary-Treasurer for Transportation Communication Union (TCU) Lodge T-574 (located in Shiloh, Ill.), was sentenced to five (5) years probation and was ordered to make restitution in the amount of $11,957.34 and pay a $150 special assessment. On December 14, 2017 Buch pled guilty to one count of embezzlement from a labor union, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 501(c), and two counts of filing false reports, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 439(b). The sentencing follows an investigation by the OLMS Denver-St. Louis District Office.
