  • Strange Bedfellows? Not so much.

Just in time for campaign fundraising season, Democrats are lining up to support unions and fill their campaign coffers. As campaigns file their year-end reports with the Federal Election Commission, it becomes much more obvious who’s in bed with whom. State Rep. Sal Pace’s (D) campaign for Congress finished 2011 with a surge of money, [...]

  • Twenty-Three Right-to-Work States

Gov. Mitch Daniels signed right-to-work legislation into law yesterday, solidifying Indiana as the 23rd right-to-work state. Once Democrats in the House ended their boycott and gave Republicans a quorum, it was smooth sailing. Despite the noisy protestors, the Senate passed the legislation Wednesday and Daniels signed it almost immediately. The Band-Aid approach was hoped to quiet [...]

  • Build Up to the Coming War

War drums are beating all over the country as Big Labor gears up for the fight to stay relevant in the American political landscape. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka began expanding his political operation last summer with a super PAC for the purposes of funding multi-cycle, issue advocacy as well as get-out-the-vote efforts. The new super [...]

Union officials have abused the trust of their members. They've misspent member dues and harmed the very same people they promise to protect.

In 2005 alone, federal racketeering investigations resulted in 196 convictions against union officials and employees and $187 million in fines. Union tactics -- including deception and intimidation during organizing campaigns, strikes that hurt members more than they help, spending mandatory union dues on radical political agendas, and the use of anti-democratic voting practices -- are long overdue for exposure.

The Center for Union Facts has gathered a wealth of information about the size, scope, political activities, and criminal activity of the labor movement in the United States of America. Welcome to UnionFacts.com.

FAQs

  • Are you against unions?

No. We are against union officials' abuse of power, often at the expense of their own rank-and-file members. We are against corruption, violence, and intimidation. We are against the misuse of union dues. We support employees who elect to join a union, as well as the right of employees to remain non-union without intimidation.

  • So who are you guys, really?

The Center for Union Facts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supported by foundations, businesses, union members, and the general public. We are dedicated to showing Americans the truth about today's union leadership.

  • Is this part of a political effort?

No. The Center for Union Facts doesn't support candidates for office. We are about education.

  • Aren't unions dying out? Why is this necessary?

It's true that union membership has declined from 33 percent of all U.S. workers in 1960 to 12.5 percent today. And among non-governmental employees, the rate is less than 8 percent. But while membership rolls may be dwindling, union officials control billions of dollars in dues money -- providing a case study in the maxim that power tends to corrupt.
