Office of Labor-Management Enforcement
The Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS) conducts both civil and criminal investigations of alleged violations of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA) and related laws.
These investigations by OLMS District Offices involve issues such as embezzlements of union funds, union officer elections, the filing of required reports by unions and others with OLMS, and the imposition of trusteeships over subordinate unions by a parent body. These investigations may result in legal enforcement actions.

March 6th, 2012 On March 6, 2012, in the Kandiyohi County, Minnesota District Court, Cherity Perez, former Secretary-Treasurer of American Postal Workers Union (APWU) Local 631 (located in Willmar, Minn.), was sentenced to 15 days of confinement, two years of probation, and ordered to write a letter of apology to Local 631. Perez was also ordered to pay additional restitution of $95.80, a $500 fine, and $90 in court fees. She previously made restitution of $1,144. On February 6, 2012, Perez pled guilty to theft, in violation of Minnesota State Statute 609.52.2(1). The sentencing follows an investigation by the OLMS Minneapolis Resident Investigator Office.
